Our Halloween Love Story: If You're a Bird, I'm a Bird & Why It's Our Forever Vibe

Happy Halloween everyone!! This year's costume was so special to us, a little nod to our love story and how we always just knew it was each other. It's a reminder that sometimes the simplest things, like a movie quote, can hold the biggest meaning. :,)

Our Halloween Love Story: If You're a Bird, I'm a Bird & Why It's Our Forever Vibe

Okay you guys, happy freakin Halloween!! I know I already posted a little glimpse of our costumes on Insta, but I just had to dive a little deeper into this one bc it means sm to me. Every year, picking out our Halloween costumes is like, a whole thing. Especially now with three little girls, it’s not just about Tanner and me anymore, it’s about finding something that feels fun for everyone, something that makes us all smile. But this year, for Tanner and I, we went back to basics, back to where it all started, in a way. And honestly? It was perfect. Like, perfect perfect. :,)

We decided to go as Noah and Allie from The Notebook. Specifically, that iconic, heart-wrenching, make-you-wanna-scream-and-cry scene where Allie says, “If you’re a bird, I’m a bird.” Ugh, my heart. Every time. I swear I've seen that movie a million times and it still gets me. And tbh, it kinda feels like our whole relationship in a nutshell. Like, if Tanner’s doing something, I’m right there. If he’s dreaming big, I’m his biggest cheerleader. And vice versa, always. We’re just… birds, you know? Together. Always.

The Inspiration Behind the Costumes (It's More Than Just a Movie!)

So, why The Notebook? Well, besides it being one of the greatest love stories ever told (idc what anyone says, it just is!), that line, “If you’re a bird, I’m a bird,” has always resonated with me and Tanner. It’s not just a cute quote; it’s like, the ultimate declaration of togetherness. It’s saying, no matter what, no matter where you go, I’m with you. I’m your person. And that’s exactly how I feel about Tanner. From the moment we met, I just knew. I knew he was my bird. And I was his. It’s a feeling you can’t really explain, but if you know, you know. And I knew. :,)

We’ve been together for what feels like forever, and every single day, he’s still my best friend, my hype man, the person who makes me laugh until I cry. He’s the one who calms me down when I’m spiraling (which, let’s be real, happens more often than I’d like to admit hahah). And he’s the best dad to our girls. Seeing him with Stella, Ozzy, and especially little Cherry now, my heart just explodes into a million pieces. He’s everything I ever dreamed of and more. So yeah, dressing up as Noah and Allie wasn't just about a movie; it was about celebrating our own epic love story, the one we're still writing every single day.

Bringing Noah and Allie to Life (Without Breaking the Bank!)

Okay, so let’s talk about the actual costumes! I wanted them to be recognizable but also, like, comfortable and not too over-the-top. We’re not trying to win any Hollywood awards here, just have fun! For Allie, I went for that classic blue dress. I actually found a similar one online that had that flowy, vintage vibe, and it was perfect. I paired it with some simple flats and, of course, a little bit of a messy updo to get that Allie look. I didn't want to spend a fortune, bc Halloween costumes are fun but also, like, one night! So I tried to find pieces I could maybe even wear again, or at least weren't super expensive.

For Tanner as Noah, it was even easier! A simple white t-shirt, some jeans, and a denim jacket. He already had most of it, tbh. We just needed to get him a little bit of that rugged, working-man vibe, which honestly, he kinda has naturally anyway hahah. He’s always building something, fixing something, or wrangling our girls, so he’s got that strong, dependable energy down. We even tried to get his hair a little messy, like Noah’s. He was a good sport about it, even though he usually likes his hair a little more… done. :,)

The best part was just seeing it all come together. It wasn't about being perfectly identical to the movie characters, it was about capturing the feeling. And I think we totally nailed it. We looked at each other and just started laughing, like, “Yep, that’s us.”

Family Halloween Fun: More Than Just Costumes

Of course, Halloween isn’t just about Tanner and me anymore. Our girls are at such fun ages for it! Stella and Ozzy are obsessed with dressing up, and even little Cherry got into the spirit this year. We always try to do a family theme, or at least make sure everyone has a costume they love. This year, the girls had their own cute costumes, and honestly, seeing them all dressed up, running around, collecting candy… it’s just pure magic. I love watching their faces light up. It’s these little moments, these traditions, that I know we’ll all look back on and cherish forever.

We spent the day carving pumpkins (or, let’s be real, Tanner did most of the carving while the girls picked out the faces hahah), decorating the house, and then, of course, trick-or-treating. It’s such a fun time to just be together, be silly, and make memories. I feel like sometimes life gets so busy, and these holidays are such a good reminder to slow down and just soak it all in. Bc before we know it, they’ll be teenagers and probably too cool to trick-or-treat with us. :,)

Why These Moments Matter So Much

Tbh, sometimes I get a little overwhelmed with everything. Being a mom to three, running a business, keeping up with life… it’s a lot. But then I have moments like Halloween, or just a random Tuesday night when we’re all snuggled on the couch, and it just hits me. This is it. This is what it’s all for. These people, this life, this crazy, beautiful, chaotic family. It’s my everything.

And Tanner, he’s always right there with me, my rock. He’s the one who reminds me to breathe, to enjoy the little things. He’s the one who makes me feel like I can do anything. And when we put on those Noah and Allie costumes, it was just a little reminder of how lucky I am to have found my bird. My partner in crime, my best friend, my soulmate. I couldn’t imagine doing life with anyone else. He makes every single day an adventure, even the quiet ones.

So yeah, this Halloween was more than just costumes and candy. It was a celebration of love, of family, of finding your person and holding onto them tight. It was a reminder that even in the everyday, there’s always a little bit of movie magic to be found, especially when you’re with the ones you love. If you’re a bird, I’m a bird, always and forever. Happy Halloween, everyone! Hope you all had the best time with your favorite people. ❤
