My New Car Era: Why I Said YES to the Hybrid (and Zero Buyer's Remorse!)

Okay, so you guys know I’ve been talking about this for a MINUTE. Like, a long minute. Finding a new car that felt right for our family, for my work, for just *life* in general, it was a whole thing. I’m not gonna lie, I get super overwhelmed with big decisions like this. My brain just goes into overdrive trying to weigh every single pro and con, and then I just wanna curl up in a ball and not decide anything hahah. But we did it!! We finally pulled the trigger, and I am so, so happy. Like, genuinely happy. No buyer’s remorse over here, which is a HUGE win for me bc I’m notorious for second-guessing everything. This one just feels right, and I couldn’t wait to share all the deets with you guys!

The Search Was REAL

If you’ve been following along, you know my last car was a trooper. It served us so well, saw us through Stella, then Ozzy, and even the early days of Cherry. But with three girls now, and all their car seats and strollers and all the *stuff* that comes with little ones, plus my work stuff, it was just getting a little… snug. And old. Bless its heart. So, the hunt began.

Tanner was, as always, my rock through this. He’s so good at researching all the technical stuff, whereas I’m more like, “Does it feel good? Is it pretty? Can I fit all my Target bags in it?” hahah. We looked at so many different options. I felt like I was constantly scrolling through car websites, watching reviews, and honestly, just feeling a little lost. Do we go bigger? Do we stay similar? What about gas mileage? The questions were endless.

I think the hardest part for me was just the sheer number of choices. I hate that about myself hahah. I’m such an indecisive person sometimes, especially when it’s a big purchase. I want to make sure it’s the absolute best fit, and that I won’t regret it later. But this time, something just clicked.

Why a Hybrid? Let's Talk Gas!

Okay, so this is probably the biggest thing that made me feel so good about this decision. We ended up going with a hybrid, and let me tell you, my gas tank has never been happier. And neither have I! With three kids, we are CONSTANTLY in the car. School drop-offs, pickups, dance classes, grocery runs, trips to Nana’s house, doctor’s appointments… it’s a never-ending cycle of driving. And you know what that means? A never-ending cycle of filling up the gas tank. And gas prices these days? Don’t even get me started.

I’m not exaggerating when I say that the fact my gas tank is still full after a week of running around is a 10/10 feeling. It’s like a little victory every single day. I used to dread seeing that needle get close to E, bc I knew it meant another chunk of change was about to disappear. Now, I feel like I’m saving sm money, and it just takes a little bit of stress off my plate, you know? It’s the little things that make a big difference when you’re a mom of three, ngl.

Tanner was super into the idea of a hybrid bc of the efficiency, and I was like, “If it saves us money and means fewer trips to the gas station, I’m in!” And honestly, it’s exceeded my expectations. It’s so quiet too, which is a bonus when you have sleeping babies in the back. Heaven on earth fr.

The Vibe Check: Does it FEEL Right?

Beyond the practical stuff, which is obviously super important, I also needed the car to just *feel* good. I spend so much time in my car, it’s basically my second home. It’s where I have deep conversations with Stella, where Ozzy sings her heart out to the radio, and where Cherry takes her best naps. It needed to be comfortable, safe, and just have a good vibe.

When I first sat in it, I just knew. It had that feeling. It’s spacious enough for all of us, the seats are comfy, and it has all the little features that make life easier. Like, cup holders for days, hahah! And the trunk space? Oh my gosh, you guys. I can actually fit everything without playing a game of Tetris. It’s the small victories, I’m telling you.

I also love the color. It’s kinda subtle but still chic, and it just makes me happy when I look at it. Sometimes you just gotta go with your gut feeling on these things, and my gut was screaming YES. This car just fits into our life so seamlessly, and that’s all I could ask for.

So, if you’re out there trying to make a big purchase, whether it’s a car, a house, or even just a new couch, here’s my completely unfiltered advice:

• Listen to your gut: Seriously. There’s a point where all the pros and cons lists just blur, and you have to go with what feels right in your heart. For me, that’s usually the right answer.
• Consider the long-term: Think about how this purchase will impact your daily life, your budget, and your family for years to come. That’s why the hybrid was such a win for us.
• Celebrate the win: Once you make the decision and it feels good, let yourself enjoy it! Don’t second-guess it. Just soak in that feeling of accomplishment and happiness.

I’m just so grateful for this new chapter, and for all the adventures we’re going to have in this car. It feels like a fresh start in so many ways. And honestly, knowing I don’t have to fill up the gas tank every other day? That’s a luxury I’m going to savor. :,)
