Our Girls' Dream Room Makeover: Bunk Beds, Cozy Corners, & So Much Joy!

Okay so I finally got around to writing about the girls' room makeover and ngl, it turned out even better than I imagined! We wanted to create a space where Stella, Ozzy, and Cherry could truly thrive, play, and just feel totally at home. This room is now literally bursting with their personalities and I couldn't be happier with how it all came together :)

You guys know how much I love making our house feel like a home, and there's nothing more important to me than making sure our girls have spaces where they feel safe, loved, and inspired. Their old room was fine, you know? But it just wasn't *them* yet. It was functional, but it wasn't magical. And with three little ones, we needed every inch of that room to work for us, not against us. I just knew we could do better, and honestly, seeing their faces light up every time they walk in there now? That's everything to me. It's truly a dream come true for all of us.

The Bunk Bed Revelation: Sleep & Play Combined

Let's talk about the bunk bed first, bc I swear it's the star of the show! We got this amazing one from Pottery Barn Kids, and it's probably my favorite piece of furniture we've gotten for their room, maybe even for the whole house hahah. It's not just a bed; it's like a whole adventure playground for them. Stella and Ozzy are obsessed with having their own little forts, and even baby Cherry loves to crawl around on the bottom bunk during playtime. It's so sturdy and beautiful, and it just instantly elevated the whole vibe of the room.

But here's the real tea: before we got the bunk bed, the girls were coming into our room almost every single night. Like clockwork. Tanner and I love our cuddles with them, don't get me wrong, but sometimes you just need your own space, you know? It was getting to be a lot. Since we put the bunk bed in, they have stayed in their room every single night! I'm not even kidding. I think it's bc they feel like they have this super cool, special place that's just theirs. It's like a sleepover every night, and they're so excited about it. It's been a total game-changer for our sleep, and theirs too! It's wild how a change in furniture can make such a huge difference in their independence and confidence. I love seeing them so proud of their new sleeping arrangements.

Creating Cozy Corners: Reading Nooks & Tea Parties

Beyond the bunk bed, we really wanted to create different zones in the room. You know, places for different activities so it didn't just feel like one big sleeping area. The canopy corner with the beanbags is probably my second favorite spot. It's so soft and inviting, and we love reading books over there. It's become our little family reading nook, and it's just the sweetest thing to snuggle up with all three girls and read stories before bed. It feels so magical under that canopy, like our own little secret world.

And then there's the table! Oh my goodness, the table. It gets used everyday for a tea party, no exaggeration. Stella and Ozzy are obsessed with hosting tea parties, and now they have their own dedicated space for it. It's where they draw, do puzzles, and just have their imaginative play sessions. It's so important for kids to have a space that's just for them, where they can be creative and make a mess (within reason, hahah). It makes the room feel so much more usable and versatile, and it's amazing to see how much they gravitate towards these specific spots we created for them.

Wallpaper Wonders: Adding Personality & Warmth

Okay, let's talk about the wallpaper! This was a big one, and honestly, it transformed the room more than I thought it would. We picked out this beautiful, soft wallpaper from Pottery Barn Kids, and it just adds so much warmth and personality to the space. It's not too overwhelming, but it gives the room that extra special touch that makes it feel truly unique and designed for them. My MIL actually came over and helped me paint and put up the wallpaper, and I literally couldn't have done it without her. She's the best, ily!! It was a bit of a project, but seeing it all come together made every minute worth it. It really ties everything together and makes the room feel cohesive and cozy.

I think sometimes people are scared of wallpaper, but honestly, it's such a great way to add character without having to paint a million different colors. It's like a piece of art for your walls, and it just makes the room feel so much more finished and inviting. Plus, the pattern we chose is subtle enough that it won't feel dated quickly, which is always a consideration when you're investing in something like that.

Of course, it's not just the big pieces. It's all the little details that really bring a room to life. We added some cute shelves for their books and toys, a soft rug that's perfect for playtime, and some fun decorative pillows that just scream 'kid-friendly.' They just have the best quality stuff that holds up to three energetic girls, and it's all so beautiful. I love knowing that these pieces will last them for years.

We also made sure to incorporate some personal touches, like their artwork and some family photos. It's important for them to see themselves reflected in their space, and it makes the room feel even more like *theirs*. This room feels so much more usable now, and the girls actually love being in there. They get so excited to show their friends when they come over, and that just melts my heart :,). It's not just a room anymore; it's their sanctuary, their play zone, their reading nook, their tea party central. It's everything we hoped for and more.

Reflecting on the Process & What It Means

Tbh, doing a room makeover with three little ones running around is always a bit chaotic hahah. There were moments when I thought, 'What did I get myself into?!' But seeing the final result, and more importantly, seeing how happy and comfortable the girls are in their new space, makes every single bit of effort worth it. It's not just about pretty furniture or cute decor; it's about creating an environment where our kids can thrive, feel secure, and let their imaginations run wild. That's the real goal, always.

This whole process reminded me again how important it is to create spaces in our home that truly serve our family. It's not about perfection, it's about functionality and joy. And right now, this room is bringing us so much joy. I'm so grateful for Tanner's patience (bc I definitely changed my mind a few times, curse my freakin indecisiveness hahah) and my MIL's help. It's truly a family effort, and that makes it even more special.
